Have you been reluctant to adopt Windows 11? Or do you have older hardware that isn’t eligible for an upgrade?

The time is coming to make a decision, since Windows 10 end of support is coming in October 2025.

We know change can be many things: Challenging, expensive and a learning curve. But using Microsoft Windows 10 after the end of support could leave you vulnerable to hackers – and no one wants that headache.

So, what can you do to get ready?

Windows 11 has been out since 2021 and it does offer some new features. It’s the latest release and successor to Windows 10. Fans say it is simple, modern and will increase productivity and creativity – including AI features.

If you are looking to get ready – and upgrade – you can do that now, if your current computer meets the requirements. Not all PCs are eligible, however. Your PC must meet system requirements including:

  • 1GHz or faster processor with two or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip
  • 4GB RAM
  • 64GB or larger storage device
  • UEFI, Secure Boot capable system firmware
  • Compatible graphics card with DirectX 12 or later with WDDM 2.0 driver
  • High-definition (720p) display that is greater than 9″ diagonally, 8 bits per color channel
  • Windows 11 Home edition requires internet connectivity and a Microsoft account to complete device setup on first use. Switching a device out of Windows 11 Home in S mode requires internet connectivity

As IT experts, we think upgrading to Windows 11 is worth it. You don’t want to lose support for critical security upgrades – and while you can pay for them for a few more years – they will likely be costly.

Windows 11 will have the latest security protocols and be better able to fend off cyberattacks, viruses, malware and ransomware.

A major point: It’s a great idea to review any third-party line of business applications your company might be using to verify that they will run properly on Windows 11 and then planning to update to the latest version of those that are Windows 11 compatible.
