    Quick Query was released in SL 2011.  This ad hoc reporting tool is designed for average users that do not have the skills or time to write a Crystal Report or complicated SQL Query.  Quick Query gives the user a tool to query the SL databases, returning data to a grid.  You can view, filter, sort, add or remove columns and export the results to Excel.  SL provides hundreds of common queries you can just run or you can modify and create your own.  Queries can be published and added to the menu for frequent use and can be shared for all users.

    In this one hour webinar you will learn how to use Dynamic SL’s Quick Query features to easily view, filter and sort information, export to Excel with a single push and empower users to find the information they need.

    Microsoft has made a mess of financial reporting in all the Dynamics ERP systems.  About five years ago Microsoft discontinued its relationship with FRx and replaced it with their own financial report writer called Management Report or MR for short.  Microsoft promised that MR would be fast, powerful and would eventually include budgeting to replace Forecaster their long time budgeting and forecasting tool.  MR turned out to be buggy, fat and slow.  Microsoft has frozen development of MR and budgeting will not be added.  Microsoft’s official recommendation is to use Power BI and Power Pivot but these analysis tools do not meet the needs of most financial professionals.

    AccuNet is recommending that our clients become independent of Microsoft and use an Excel based reporting tool called XLstatements.  We believe it is important for our customers to move to an independent financial report writer so your business is not impacted by changes in Microsoft product changes.  Most financial people are skilled with Excel so moving to an Excel based report writer makes a lot of sense.

    In this one hour webinar, you will learn the reasons why we recommend XLstatements, see how quickly it can be installed and mastered.  We will cover the benefits and features that make this financial and budgeting tool a great replacement for MR or FRx.

    Microsoft has announced a new 2018 CU3 version of Microsoft Dynamics SL released in November 2019.  This is an exclusive look for AccuNet clients and partners at the new features and direction that Microsoft is taking SL. Microsoft is making significant enhancements to SL like these listed below:

    • Possible Value Look Up Filtering Options Added
      • Users can now select filtering options for possible values, not just administrators. A new setting in the Options Dialog box allows the selection of the default List look up Behavior to be “contains” or “begins with” values.
    • Adding the General Ledger’s Journal Transactions screen to the Approval process
      • The new approval process that was added to the SL 2018 is now available in the Journal Transactions screen. This means that journal transactions can be entered by one person and reviewed, editing or approved by another, allowing for separation of duties. Customer feedback enhancements have been added to assist with the entry and approval process.
    • Release AP Batches screen
      • The AP Batch Release screens now displays the Period to Post value. This is the value entered during data entry in the AP Transactions Entry screen. This allows for the quick review of the period to post information in one screen.
      • In addition to being able to view the Period to Post value, the screens also allow the editing of mis-entered period information, using the initialize mode feature. This allows users to fix any errors made during data entry and then release the batches with the proper period to post value.
    • Release AR Batches screen
      • The AR Batch Release screen now displays the Period to Post value. This is the value entered during data entry in the AR Transactions Entry screen. This allows for the quick review of the period to post information in one screen.
      • In addition to being able to view the Period to Post value, the screens also allow the editing of mis-entered period information, using the initialize mode feature. This allows users to fix any errors made during data entry and then release the batches with the proper period to post value.
    • Project Maintenance – End Date validation by Project or Task
      • The new End Date Validation feature has been expanded to allow turning it on and off in different financial modules.
      • The following financial screens now have the Project End Date validation:
        • Journal Transaction
        • Voucher and Adjustment screen
        • Invoice and Memo screen
      • End Date Validation Options:
        • None
          • The End date continues to be informational only, as it has been in previous
            versions of Microsoft Dynamics SL.
        • At Project Level
          • When a Project End Date is passed, a Project will stop being displayed in the
            Project lookup screen for those entering Time and Expense against a project.
          • Option to not include projects with a Project End Date that has been reached.
        • At Task Level
          • Look at all Project tasks end dates.
          • If all Task End dates are past the current date, then don’t show the project.
          • If any of them are still valid, then show the project.
          • For the Task Look up list, only show the tasks that have end dates that are still
            after the current date.
    • Power BI Customer Dashboard
      • The Microsoft Dynamics SL 2018 CU3 release introduces an additional dashboard to help users see the benefits of using Microsoft technologies to interact or report on their SL data.
